MTV's Artist To Watch MAX Turns Parking Lots Into His Gym On Tour

Talk about getting creative.

If you're headed out to Fall Out Boy and Wiz Khalifia's Boys Of Zummer Tour, here is one piece of advice: make sure you catch MAX.

The singer, who you may know for his YouTube covers or his infectious single "Gibberish," will be hitting the road all summer long with the guys, and I can guarantee you that you will be witnessing someone with a killer voice, a great sense of style and songs that will be stuck in your head for weeks...and that's not a bad thing.

But being on the road can get a bit exhausting. You're constantly traveling from city to city, sleeping in a different hotel every night and trying to maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle. So how does the 23-year-old MTV Artist To Watch do it?

"I always keep some protein bars in my bag. I have a little protein packet, and it's tough because, in different cities, there's different cuisines, and I love to explore that," MAX told MTV News. "But at the same time, I like to have my staples in the background, consistent vegetables, whatever else I can find, but if we're in Texas and there is some barbecue, I got to try that. I think that's what it's all about having the balance of the two."

And MAX tries hard to keep it all in check, since it "affects the creativity." His unique on-the-road workouts do the trick.

"I do a lot of calisthenics stuff, like push-ups and pull-ups and sometimes we used to park the bus in Walmart's and I go to the Walmart parking lot where you put your carts" he said. "You can do some dips on the side and sometimes when there is a bar above it you do pull-ups on that, I like to get creative."

But just because he's diligent about his diet and workout, doesn't mean he doesn't indulge from time to time.

"We had a really cool venue the other night and they had a fire pit set up and they had this whole s'mores delicious set-up," he said. "And I was like here we go."
