Some time has passed since this year’s Oscars (four months to the day, actually), allowing the dust to settle from all those memes and dishwashing jokes aimed at those bright red, elbow-length gloves Lady Gaga wore with her Azzedine Alaïa gown.

But Gaga is nothing if not full of surprises, which is why we should have known she’d incorporate those leather gloves into her everyday wardrobe. Look, if they work for a ballgown, they certainly work with a black-and-white polka dot jacket and silk skirt.

Gaga also wore bottlecap shades and Andy Warhol-inspired heels with a cartoon banana across the side.

You know you’re wearing headline-making gloves when your banana shoes aren’t even close to being your outfit’s statement piece.
