How A Monkey Named Elvis Changed This Man's Life

The season finale of MTVOther's 'No Seasons' explores Julian Yuri Rodriguez's relationship with...a primate.

In a span of 20something years, a lot of people have come and gone in Julian Yuri Rodriguez's wild and crazy life. But no one has had quite an impact like his true best friend: Elvis the Monkey.

The unlikely BFFs first crossed paths at a Miami zoo. Deciding to get a present for his webcam-loving pal Sasha Meow, Rodriguez snuck the monkey into his book bag and sent it to her as a token of love. But the NYC gal refused the gift and, instead of sending Elvis back to the zoo, Rodriguez decided to keep his furry pal.

"Elvis is beautiful," Rodriguez gushes in the season finale episode of "No Seasons." "We were both kind of sad. We both kind of got our hearts broken."

Since keeping a zoo animal as a pet is, well, difficult, Rodriguez decided to visit the home of a Santeria priest and ask for advice. There, he encountered an insane situation: Grown men -- wasted out of their minds -- were strewn about the floor, wearing diapers and defecating in them.

The MTVOther star quickly went into assist mode, trying to help one stranger who was suffering badly. And as the man turned to face him, Rodriguez recognized his face: He was the guy who once tried to steal Julian's boat. Fighting off instincts of revenge, Rodriguez looked down at his former foe and had a change of heart.

"We've all been like that in a point in our lives," Rodriguez says. "I forgave him right then and there."

It was that very moment which led to Rodriguez's new outlook on life. He took Elvis, walked away and never looked back.

"I definitely changed a lot," he says. "I feel like the old Julian would have probably put on diapers, kicked that dude in the head while he was on the floor and [started] partying."

And, Rodriguez realized, his constant search for a companion wasn't very important now that he'd found true friendship. "I don't need a girlfriend," he says. "All these girls I'd been trying to date -- I mean, they were my friends too, but it wasn't like the connection I had with the monkey."
