Why Does This 19-Year-Old's Rendition Of The National Anthem Have Us In Tears?

Marlana VanHoose will inspire you.

On Tuesday night, the Cleveland Cavaliers faced off against the Golden State Warriors in game 6 of the NBA finals. But while the Golden State Warriors came out victorious, the MVP of the night was Marlana Vanhoose. The 19-year-old Kentucky native who was born blind and suffers from Cerebral Palsy sang her powerful rendition of the National Anthem, and it was clear she was the winner before the game even started.

MTV News spoke to Marlana on Wednesday (June 17) about her big night and the performance that had the Internet giving her a standing ovation. "It was great, it felt fantastic," she said. "I was pumped up."

An an infant, Marlana was expected to live just 12 months, but 19 years later, she's moved from singing at University of Kentucky games to being profiled by ESPN to singing at the NBA Finals. The lesson? "I hope people never give up on their dreams," she said.

The teen has big dreams of her own too. She told me that she wants to pursue a career in music and eventually get a record deal. Marlana already has her next gig planned. "I’m going to the home run derby in Cincinnati ... I’m singing there," she revealed.

We'll be watching and cheering, Marlana.
