Are The Best Things In Life 'Really' Free? Kendrick Lamar Chimes In

Let's rethink those cliches.

In addition to dropping To Pimp a Butterfly this year, we've also had a pretty robust selection of Kendrick Lamar features in recent months. From his collaboration with Taylor Swift on "Bad Blood," to his new verse on Bilal's "Money Over Love," K. Dot's been showing off his range.

He managed to spit over the frenetic production on Flying Lotus' "Never Catch Me", dip his toes into pop with Taylor, and now we find him rhyming over a jazzy beat, courtesy of Bilal, on a new song snippet, which premiered on BBC Radio.

Kendrick goes double time over the '70s-inspired funk beat, as the artists essentially tell us that the best things in life aren't necessarily free.

The track will appear on the Bilal's upcoming June 30 album In Another Life. He told BBC's Gilles Peterson that Kendrick was an “incredible, incredible creative talent," and added that he was "a driven person…from the whole school of Dre just staying in the studio for hours and hours.”

The Compton rapper also joined Bilal for a live performance of "Money Over Love" last month in Los Angeles.

This weekend Kendrick performed a headlining set at the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, and made a cameo during Earth Wind and Fire's set with Chance the Rapper. His musical range knows no bounds.
