Did This Rapper Just Break Eminem’s World Record?

Shady might have some competition.

Who really wants it with Eminem? Apparently U.K. rapper Harry Shotta does, because he set out to break Eminem's Guinness World Record for "Most Words In A Hit Single," which Shady accomplished with 2013's "Rap God."

Em earned this honor by spitting 1,560 words on the fast-paced, mind-bending track, and Harry Shotta says that he's topped that by fitting in 1,771 words in a six minute and 23 second song.

He told UKF that this took shape when his DJ, DJ Phantasy, decided to mash-up Em's "Rap God" beat with Shotta's lyrics at a rave and people really got into it.

“We did it live and it worked really well then Phantasy sent me a beat at the same BPM. I started to write to it and remembered the reaction of the Westfest,” Shotta explained. “I wanted it to be the exact length of Rap God and, just for a personal challenge, I wanted to see if I could get anywhere close to his word count."

Apparently he succeeded, by reaching Em's word count and adding another 200.

So far, Guinness World Records has not confirmed that he's broken Em's mark. Technically, the honor was for "most words in a hit single," so does that mean that Shotta's version needs to hit the charts first?

Stay tuned for an update.

In the meantime, the U.K. MC makes it clear that this is all in the friendly spirit of competition.

“No disrespect to Eminem at all!” he said. “This is purely about pushing our art and having some fun. A lot of our fans have been tweeting him, we’ve had Radio 1 play and loads of support on Radio 1Xtra… It’s gone mental this week so I’m sure someone in his camp will know. I hope he likes the track and appreciates what we’ve done. It’s all about the art of MCing and pushing it to the next level.”
