Happy Hippie queen Miley Cyrus took a break from her wig-tastic antics and wacky craft sessions on Instagram Tuesday night to give us an unexpected surprise: a dose of possible new music!

Miley posted 15 seconds of stripped-down musical bliss from what we’re hoping might be one of her next solo songs. She captioned the clip, “New jammmmmmmmmmmm,” but the song sounds much more Lana Del Rey than “Bangerz.” “Why do people only show forgiveness when they wanna sound cool in a song?” she sings on the slow burner, while rocking a “Good Vibes Only” jumpsuit and standing on a stage illuminated by multicolored lights.

It’s unclear whether the brooding song could appear on her next solo album — she’s currently recording the follow-up to 2013’s excellent Bangerz — or whether it could be part of her upcoming collaborative record with The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne.

Word in the Twittersphere is that the new clip is from a rehearsal for her performance at Adult Swim’s Upfront Party, which takes place tonight (May 13) at Terminal 5 in New York City. If that’s the case, we’ll hopefully be hearing the song in its entirety soon enough.
