If You Like Giant Lizards You'll Love Anne Hathaway's Next Movie

The 'Interstellar' actress will star opposite a giant Godzilla-like creature in 'Colossal.'

Anne Hathaway has played princesses of all shapes and sizes, won an Oscar for a movie musical, and scored serious roles in not one but two Christopher Nolan blockbusters, but something was still missing from her superstar resume.

That something, of course, was "playing a woman who has an inexplicable but undeniable psychic connection with a giant lizard which may or may not destroy the world."

Fortunately, the gaping lizard-shaped hole in Anne Hathaway's life will be filled by her next movie, "Colossal." According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress has officially joined the cast of the new film by director Nacho Vigalondo, who wrote and directed the internet thriller "Open Windows."

From the report:

Hathaway will play Gloria, an ordinary woman who, after losing her job and her fiancé, decides to leave her life in New York to move back to her hometown.

But when news reports surface that a giant lizard is destroying the city of Tokyo, Gloria gradually comes to realize that she is strangely connected to these far-off events via the power of her mind. In order to prevent further destruction, Gloria needs to determine why her seemingly insignificant existence has such a colossal effect on the fate of the world.

Adding to this already-intriguing news: "Colossal" is being pitched as "'Godzilla' meets 'Lost in Translation.'" Does this mean that the giant lizard will be played with melancholy charm by Bill Murray? Please, somebody say yes.
