Sam Smith Is ‘Really Nervous’ To Undergo Vocal Cord Surgery

The singer is 'so gutted' to have to cancel more tour dates.

Get well soon, Sam Smith!

It appears that that "small hemorrhage" that was discovered on his vocal cords -- which forced Smith to cancel his Australia tour -- was much worse than he thought. He's currently headed for surgery and shared the following on Instagram:

Smith explained in the caption that he's getting really nervous for his operation, which is booked for next week -- but promises that he will return better than ever.

"By doing this in 8 weeks time I'm gonna be able to sing like never before so it's worth it," he wrote. "I am so sorry to all. Dreading the next month thou, I can't speak for THREE WEEKS after the op."

According to his official webpage the singer has canceled his In The Lonely Hour tour dates in Japan, the Philippines, France and Monaco. As of now, he's scheduled to return on June 3 in the U.K. before he heads back to the U.S. in July.
