On Tuesday (May 5), one of the most important historical texts was finally released to the world: Kim Kardashian’s 448-page Selfish. In case you’ve somehow missed the slew of teaser tweets and Instagram snaps she’s been posting to promote its release, the pseudo autobiography chronicles Kim’s whirlwind life through the art of the selfie (of which she is basically the high priestess).

To celebrate the momentous occasion, Kim descended upon a Barnes & Noble store in New York City on Tuesday to sign copies of her masterpiece and meet her throngs of admirers face-to-face, some of whom reportedly started lining up a whole day before the event.

However, not everyone was there to congratulate Kim on her big book debut. A group of angry anti-fur activists crashed the event, where they called Kim a “murderer” and a “terrible person,” and repeatedly shouted “Shame on you!”

In a particularly jaw-dropping moment caught on video, one man yells at Kim, “I just want to say, you’re the most disgusting human being on this planet. Shame on you for supporting the fur industry!”

In the same video, the man behind the camera approaches Kim — seemingly to have his book signed — and asks, “Can you make it out to all the animals that have been tortured and killed for you to wear a fur?” We’re guessing she didn’t oblige.

For the record, the alleged critter killer wasn’t actually wearing fur that day, but she and hubby Kanye West (and even their daughter, North) have all been seen rockin’ fur ensembles in the past.

While all the craziness went down, Kim remained cool and collected. Even as people yelled in her face, she continued to smile and sign books while security guards escorted the activists away.
