"Avengers: Age Of Ultron" has just hit theaters today (May 1), but we know... You're just like us: you've been up all night watching the movie over and over, analyzing every frame to try and find clues for the future of the Marvel movie-verse.

With that in mind, here are 41 questions we still have about the Avengers battle with Ultron... And their (possible) answers.

Was Thanos controlling Ultron?

Let's think about this, because it's a pretty subtle plot-point weaved into the movie. During the party at Tony's, the Ultron test is running -- and all of sudden, works. It's not explained how, or why, and Tony even brings that up in his (first) argument with Steve. "Why did the test suddenly work?" It's never explained, but later Thor notes that someone has been moving the Avengers like pawns.

That being, of course, is Thanos. So perhaps through some over-arching plan, he seeded a virus into the Mind Stone, which he put it Loki's scepter, which he knew would eventually make its way into creating Ultron/Vision... Which would then (because, evil) make its way back to him. Its crazy complicated, and not really backed up too much by the script; but something caused Ultron to work, and "dumb luck" isn't a great answer.

OK, but seriously: what was Thanos' plan?

We'll find out more (I'm sure) in "Infinity War" parts one and two in 2018 and 2019, but Thanos wants all six Infinity Stones, right? So why did he send Loki with the only Infinity Stone he had to get another Infinity Stone? That's like sending a bull after a cow and expecting them to just come back without prompting.

Maybe that could have used a better metaphor, but you get the idea.

Did Vision actually kill Ultron?

It seems pretty clear he did, otherwise we've got a rogue robot on our hands. But there's a fair amount of evidence to indicate that Vision didn't actually utterly destroy his daddy in their last scene together.

First, there's Vision's own words to the team in the scene right after he's born. He tells them he doesn't want to kill Ultron, that he's "unique." Vision also explains that where Ultron stands for death, Vision is for life. So for Vision to eliminate Ultron entirely doesn't quite gel with his character (unless of course you don't trust Vision -- though Thor certainly does).

And second, there's the fact that Ultron "dies" off-screen. We see Vision's Mind Stone light up, and we cut away farther in the woods to a flash of light. Could Vision have blasted Ultron to smithereens? Sure. But a more likely possibility is that Vision destroyed Ultron's physical body, while assimilating the baddie's consciousness into the Mind Stone.

Do we know that for a fact? No. But it's a neat, easy explanation that could allow Ultron to come back in the future in some form.

If Thanos wants the Mind Stone, is he going to have to rip it out of Vision's head?

Yeah, probably. Sorry Vision.

Speaking of which, does Vision know about Thanos?

This is perhaps reading into things too much, but in that last scene between Ultron and Vision, Ultron says that humanity is "doomed," and Vision agrees; but that they're still worth fighting for.

So does Vision know we're doomed in the greater sense of universal heat death, etc? Or is he hinting that he knows what's coming sooner down the line? Our bet is on the latter.

Where's Banner?

Rumors years before the movie hit theaters pegged the ending as sending Hulk into space to join the Guardians of the Galaxy. While Banner's quinjet seems a little low in the atmosphere for that to happen, its entirely possible we could see the jade giant before "Infinity War..." Though where isn't exactly clear.

His story is far from over; the question is, will it continue with Natasha, or on his own?

Tony and Steve are on pretty good terms, so what's gonna rip 'em apart?

We're about a year away from "Captain America: Civil War," which pits Cap and Iron Man right up against each other. But by movie's end, despite a few disagreements and even some fist fights, they're pretty good buddies, with Natasha even joking that they were making lovey dovey eyes at each other.

A lot of fans were looking for clues towards their schism in this movie, and the seeds might be there; but chances are, whatever breaks the Avengers will happen in "Civil War" itself.

Is the organization at the end S.H.I.E.L.D., or The Avengers?

It's kind of an amalgamation, right? Ignoring "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." -- which has at least two S.H.I.E.L.D.s currently -- S.H.I.E.L.D. technically doesn't exist anymore. But you've got helicarriers, and more importantly you've get Nick Fury on board (as well as Maria Hill, of course). Our guess: it's Avengers, but with the structure of S.H.I.E.L.D. Or like Cap says to Pietro, "It's what S.H.I.E.L.D. was supposed to be."

All the superheroes, none of the secrets (yeah, right).

Is Hawkeye out for good?

Nope. He'll be back in "Civil War." Sorry, Laura.

Did they really save everyone except that one guy and Quicksilver?

The entire third act is built around the Avengers saving everyone they can, with Ultron even quipping, "You can't save everyone." So do they? The aloft section of Sokovia is certainly cleared out, but I can't imagine that all the falling debris missed everyone (even though the majority fell right into that new lake.

That said, collateral damage aside, it's rather beautiful to see an action sequence finale that focuses on saving thousands of people, versus just beating up the bad guy.

Is HYDRA dunzo?

Nah. Even with Strucker gone, you cut off one head, etc, etc.

And what were they going to do with the leviathan, anyway?

Okay, so we know Strucker was working on artificial intelligence, hence the robots. But what was up with the leviathan he had stowed away in his spooky castle? And how did he even sneak a giant space monster out of New York, anyway?

I suspect the answer to the latter is that it was taken from NYC while HYDRA was still S.H.I.E.L.D., but for the former, no idea. Was he harvesting it for spare parts? Was this where all the advanced robotics came from? Maybe even the Twins' enhanced powers? Or maybe it just looked flippin' cool?

What's happening in Asgard?

Ragnarok. Ragnarok and roll, baby. Of all the visions Scarlet Witch causes, it seems like Thor's is most prophetic for the future. From Heimdall, we learn that Thor has killed everyone... But it's also tied to the Infinity Stones in some way.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to Thor, Loki is pretending to be Odin and is in control. Add this all together, and you've got a thunder god who is about to head into a lot more questions than the answers he's seeking.

Who else came out of the Red Room?

Lots of folks! Bad folks. But we probably won't see any of them until we get a FRICKIN' SOLO "BLACK WIDOW" MOVIE, MARVEL!!!! AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! Anyway.

How does Black Widow pee in that suit?

Great question. She actually uses a toilet.

Why do all spies know ballet?

I'll let special guest/Black Widow expert Victoria McNally answer this one:

"The dancers that appear in Natasha’s vision aren’t just there for decoration -- they’re also a part of her comic backstory. When the Black Widow first appeared in the ‘60s, she had trained as a ballerina with the Bolshoi before becoming an intelligence operative. Of course, comic characters practically never keep the same origin story they start out with, and so later Natasha’s past was retconned dramatically -- in the new continuity she was never at the Bolshoi at all, but was brainwashed by the Red Room as a child into thinking that she was.

However, we’re guessing from the way that the vision unfolds that Natasha probably did have some ballerina training for real. After all, not only is useful for teaching grace and movement, but it’s also a reasonably good cover story. Remember that Dottie Underwood in 'Agent Carter' told Peggy that she was a ballerina, too, which she was very definitely not by the end of the season."

Is Vision really worthy?

Yeah, probably. You could argue that he's a walking elevator, or that he's able to pick up Mjolnir through a fluke of magical programming. But chances are that Vision is truly, actually a good guy.

Was he making fun of Thor with the cape business?

No, KASE WICKMAN. He was not. When Vision is "born," he's red and gold, just like Iron Man, since Tony helped usher him to life. He looks out at the world, and changes his color slightly as well as covering himself in "clothes" of green, because he's embracing the Earth, and life. And then Thor is a cool dude to him, so he wants a cool cape just like Thor.

And is J.A.R.V.I.S. just... Gone?

Yeah, pretty much. Unlike Ultron, J.A.R.V.I.S. becomes a singular consciousness, and doesn't seem to be interested in replicating himself in perpetuity. Technically he probably could... But J.A.R.V.I.S. is now Vision, and that's kind of how things will be. Guess we'll just have to make due with the fancy English human version.

Why did Ultron leave Natasha enough stuff to make a radio?

Admiral Ackbar, will you do the honors for me? "IT'S A TRAP." Thanks, fish-man. Natasha has skills, no doubt, but would Ultron really leave enough wires and equipment around in her cell for her to make a radio if he didn't want her to summon the Avengers? Nope.

The robot villain wants to face down with them, to prove them wrong... And potentially kill them while crashing a good portion of Sokovia down on the Earth. He also wants them to think its their idea, to give them hope before ripping it away. So yeah, he left a bunch of wires and whatever. Ultron ain't no dummy.

Is the team at the end Cap's team in "Civil War?"

Potentially? Probably? WE may see cameos, and Anthony Mackie is almost certain to return. You also can't have a movie called "Civil War" with only four or five superheroes in it, so there's gonna be appearances by nearly everyone. That said, I fully expect we'll see the core team from "Winter Soldier" at the center of the movie, giving it focus versus a non-stop, three hour long superhero brawl.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Can Nick Fury stay on the straight and narrow?

Eh. He certainly seems to be a changed man, but 50 percent of his body makeup is secrets. This is a guy who can't help having plans within plans, even if he always thinks he's on the side of right. And he is, but even if the New Avengers facility is run by Cap, let's be honest: it's really run by the man with one eye on everything.

Who has the other two Infinity Stones?

Great question! quick role call: the cosmic cube/Tesseract is in Asgard; the Aether is with the Collector (or at least it was, before his collection was blown up); the Power Stone is with the Nova Corps; and now the Mind Stone is in Vision's forehead.

That leaves two more Infinity Stones out there somewhere in the Universe for Thanos to find and complete his power glove. Who are they with? Where will they turn up next? "Thor: Ragnarok" is right before "Infinity War," so probably there. For the last one, who knows? Maybe Howard The Duck has it?

How did Thor know about all four Infinity Stones?

Tesseract, Aether and Mind Stone all make sense, but how -- if Thor has been on Earth this whole time -- did he know about the Power Stone that showed up in "Guardians of the Galaxy?" We don't know for sure, but I'd venture a guess that "someone from Asgard told him" is the answer to that one.

Still, it's also possible there's a bit of a timeline shift going on with "Guardians," though we'll have to wait and see.

...And why didn't Tony and Steve ask him about that?

Because you don't want to bog down the last five minutes of the movie with needless explanation.

Who really is better, Pepper or Jane?

Pepper. Come on, that's not even a mildly simmering question, let alone a burning one.

Why F.R.I.D.A.Y.?

Tony's new AI is probably a reference to "His Girl Friday," the 1940 screwball romantic comedy. Either that, or Tony is a big fan of Ice Cube's filmic oeuvre.

What did Hulk see in his vision?

Everybody had a vision of their worst nightmare courtesy of the Scarlet Witch. Cap saw himself all alone after the war. Thor saw that he destroyed Asgard. Tony killed everything. and Natasha went back to her worst day. So what about Banner?

Easy one: he lived his nightmare, by going on an out of control rampage as the Hulk and potentially hurting -- or killing -- civilians. So no vision for him, just the stark, horrible reality.

They kept calling the Twins "enhanced." Where did they come up with term?

It's actually a pretty interesting plot point: it comes from the part of the movie where FOX owns the term "mutants."

How are Vision and Scarlet Witch gonna bone if he ain't got no junk?

Don't worry, Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany have an answer for that... You perv.

Where's Betty?

We got to see Veronica in the movie, we got a reference to Jane and Pepper... But where's Betty Ross? It certainly would have made the Hulktasha replationship super complicated to have Bruce's true love in the movie -- but she's been missing from the MCU since "The Incredible Hulk," so chances are we won't see her showing up any time soon.

Still, she's clearly important enough to Bruce to talk to his Science Bro about her -- and for Tony to name the Hulk deterrent after her Archie Comics opposite -- so it's always possible she might show up again. Not holding my breathe, though.

Why'd Ultron drive the cradle in a truck if he can fly?

Stealth, dudes. Yes he could have flown away with his bro-bots, but Ultron wanted to get out of town undetected, and with enough time to upload his brain into a new body. You can't do that while flying and evading Avengers.

What's going on with Avengers Tower?

At the end of the movie they're all set up in the New Avengers facility, so what happened to Stark/Avengers Tower? It's still there, of course, but is probably going back to being Tony's home, versus the base for Earth's Mightiest Heroes. But with a Civil War a-brewing, perhaps two teams might each need a base of their own?

Was there really only one dog in all of Sokovia?

With all the people that get saved, we only see one dog jumping on the S.H.I.E.L.D. lifeboats to safety. So is there really only one dog in Sokovia? Probably not, though I read that as a sly, subtle joke about how the dog always survives disaster movies no matter way.

Alternately, you could take the explanation that Sokovians don't normally have dogs as pets because the mountains are riddled with packs of hungry, feral mutts. This isn't true, but let's say it is.

And approximately how many cats died?

None. The cats were all eaten by the packs of feral dogs.

What was Juno Temple doing there?

Nothing, she wasn't in the movie. You're thinking of English actress Dominique Provost-Chalkley, who played Zrinka, the mother of the young boy Hawkeye saves towards the end. She plays essentially the same sort of eyes-on-the-ground role the Waitress played in the first movie, who interestingly, was supposed to be played by Lindsay Lohan.

Wouldn't Ultron get dumber if he uploaded half his brain into a robot body?

No, KASE. That's not how computers work. If you upload a file to the internet, do you lose your other file? If so, you really better get your computer looked at.

Presumably, after Ultron uploaded himself to the Vision body, he would have shut down all his other selves, as he had finally achieved his ultimate form. But I guess like the number of licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll pop, we'll never know.

Is Pietro dead, dead, or is he dead like all the other characters who have died?

He DEAD. See previous answer about "enhanced" for reasons.

Would you name a baby after a guy you barely knew? Because I wouldn't.

Hawkeye names his baby Nathaniel Pietro Barton after Natasha, and Quicksilver, who saved his life. Which is really sweet and nice in the context of the movie, but in the span of Clint's life there was nobody more important to him? I mean, they exchanged probably four sentences together, and 15 minutes earlier Clint legitimately considered shooting Pietro in the back with an arrow. Anyway. I wouldn't do that. Just saying.

Will Cap and Peggy ever get that dance, for real?
