Miley Cyrus Is Shooting With 'Paper' Magazine And Body Paint Might Be Involved

Can we start freaking out yet?

While it's been a hot minute since Miley Cyrus has been on the cover of a magazine—too long, TBH—it seems like one may be coming down the pike. And if history is any indication of what's to come, it's going to be a big one. Let's begin our detective work where all good mysteries begin: Instagram.

Last night, Miley shared a towel-clad photo with the mysterious caption, "Behind the scenes with @papermagazine creative directed by @twinkleswinkle BTS Polaroid by @cheythom." OK, let's break this down: @cheythom is Cheyne Thomas, Miley's friend and frequent photographer. @Twinkleswinkle is Diane Martel, a director and frequent Miley-collaborator, who directed the video for "We Can't Stop," and acted as creative director for the Bangerz Tour. And @papermagazine is, of course, Paper Magazine, most recently recognized for breaking the internet with Kim Kardashian's naked body.

Hold up—does this mean Miley is doing a shoot for Paper?!? Signs point to yes, right?? Here's another element that seems to support our theory:

Diane shared a photo with Miley in printed mesh polo from Jeremy Scott's Adidas collaboration and bejeweled cat-eye sunglasses, which seems to confirm, if nothing else, that the two of them have been hanging out recently, which is great news because when Miley and Diane collaborate, the results are #ICONIC. I mean, gigantic flying hot dogs, anyone?

Finally, yesterday afternoon, before sharing the Paper BTS snap, Miley shared this bird's-eye view photo of, as she put it, "cool artist painting cool s--t on me #comingsoon." That did not immediately send up any flares because, LBR, it sounds like a standard night at Miley's house. But alongside the other evidence and, you know, known constraints of time and space, it seems pretty logical that this is for the same project.

We'll keep our eyes peeled for any more clues or actual, y'know, confirmation that we can expect a Miley x Paper feature soon. Body paint and bedazzled sunglasses—what more could we want?
