'Avengers: Age Of Ultron' May Race Past 'Furious 7' At The Box Office

Welcome to the Age of the Avengers.

Though "Furious 7" has revved its way to the top of the box office all four weeks since it opened, it looks like there's another summer release poising to pass it.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron," Marvel's latest superhero sure-to-be-(Hulk)-smash, hits theaters Thursday at 7 p.m., and the movie's ticket pre-sales have it positioned to be possibly the highest-grossing Thursday night opening of all time, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2," the last installment in the "Harry Potter" series, holds the current record with $43.7 million in midnight ticket sales.

According to THR, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" could have an opening weekend of $210 million, or even more, surpassing recent champ "Furious 7" for the biggest opening of the year. Currently, the first "Avengers" movie holds the all-time record for domestic box office opening weekend with $207.4 million. If "Age of Ultron" holds to predictions -- one service is even tracking it for a monster $224 million weekend -- it will be the biggest domestic opening of all time.

By Fandango's numbers, "Age of Ultron" has made as much in pre-sales as pre-sales from all the other Marvel movies combined.

Looks like we truly are living in the age of Ultron Marvel.
