It’s been two whole years since Avril Lavigne released her latest, self-titled album. But after a long hiatus during which she battled a previously undisclosed medical condition (that she has since revealed was Lyme disease), everyone’s favorite party-starting Canadian popstar is finally blessing our ears with new music.

In February, Avril released the stunning video for “Give You What You Like” and announced her new single “Fly,” which is slated to drop on April 16 in conjunction with the 2015 Special Olympics World Games.

With that double dose of exciting news, Avril fans were left wondering when the 30-year-old would hit the studio to record a full album of new material. And now, it finally appears we have an answer: she’s already started! But in true Avril fashion, there’s a fun twist.

In a new interview with Billboard, Av revealed, “I’ve always wanted to make a Christmas album, but I’ve never had the time. But now it’s like, ‘You know what, just do it!’ Because that’s something I really want to do, so that’s going to be next for me.”

So there we have it: the pop-punk princess is joining the ranks of everyone from Michael Bublé to Justin Bieber with her very own collection of carols. If anyone can grace us with a miraculous, modern-day version of No Doubt’s “Oi to the World,” we’re sure it’s her (just a thought, Av).

While Avril hasn’t revealed any more deets about the record, we’d like to officially offer up some suggestions for how she could rework some of her most popular singles into festive Christmasy anthems.
