Before he returns in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," R2-D2 has some other matters to attend to — matters of the heart, to be precise.

The brave little robot stars in an adorable "Star Wars" short movie from filmmaker Evan Atherton called "Artoo in Love," and as the title implies, it's all about the astromech droid's quest to find love. Easier said than done.

Just goes to show that, yes, romance tends to be more of a roller coaster ride than a straight line, and rarely makes a whole lot of sense — even when artificial intelligence gets involved. Hopefully Artoo's affections are a bit more appreciated when "The Force Awakens" arrives later this year. And if not, hey, at least Threepio will be there to console him.
