Kanye West is a lot of things to a lot of people. He’s a rapper, a designer, a saint, a devil, a husband, a father, a prankster…the list goes on and on, and it’s brimming with both complimentary and demeaning labels.

One thing he almost certainly is NOT, however, is a fangirl. At least, that’s what we thought until we saw this rare video proof suggesting the contrary.

In between declaring himself a legend and a god, Yeezus stepped off his high horse for a hot sec back in 2011, when he came face-to-face with fashion icon Iris Apfel. The recently-surfaced footage is from the forthcoming documentary “Iris,” which is based on the 93-year-old’s life and imprint in the fashion world.

In the clip, we see Apfel, then 89, casually schmoozing with elite designers like Jenna Lyons and Alexander Wang at the 2011 CFDA Awards. Then she comes across a beaming Kanye, who totally fawns over her and tells her, “You’re killing it. You look so good tonight.”

The ever-relaxed Apfel, outfitted in her signature thick glasses and heaps of jewelry, responds, “Oh, thank you. My goodness. Coming from a handsome young fellow — wow, that’s cool.”

Did you hear that, guys? “THAT’S COOL.” Let’s all give her a round of applause for the most flawless and amusingly nonchalant answer ever.

Truth be told, it’s sort of awkwardly unnatural to see Kanye get all smiley and high-pitched around someone who’s not his own reflection (JK, love you, Ye). Who IS this Kanye of yesteryear?! But if anyone is worthy of his praise, it’s the great Apfel, whose inventive style is utterly unparalleled.

In any case, if finding out how their convo ends isn’t a good enough reason to see “Iris” when it’s released on April 29, then I don’t what is. Will she reveal herself as a secret stan by calling out his Dior reference on “Devil in a New Dress?” Or will they simply keep trading flirtatious compliments? (Remember, this was a whole four years ago, back when Kanye was merely an aspiring designer and Kimye was just a figment of our imaginations.). The possibilities are endless!
