Chris Brown's Probation Ends After Judge Closes Rihanna Assault Case

Brown tweeted, "IM OFF PROBATION!!!!!!!! Thank the Lord!!!!!!"

Chris Brown is finally a free man.

The 25-year-old singer was released from his felony probation on Friday (March 20), which stemmed from his 2009 assault of then-girlfriend Rihanna. After reviewing his probation report, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge James R. Brandlin ruled that Brown had completed the terms of his sentence, which included domestic violence counseling, rehab, and community service.

After several run-ins with the law over the past six years, it’s no surprise that the “Autumn Leaves” singer was thrilled with the news that he'll no longer be supervised by the court system.

Brown's day of emancipation was jeopardized in January after his probation was revoked for traveling to San Jose without court approval. It also didn’t help matters that during his trip, he was present when five people were shot and wounded at the Fiesta Nightclub.

Even though Brown seems ready to move on from all the legal drama in his life, Rihanna recently made a jab about her dark history with him.

“I fell in love with the Beast,” Rihanna told TIME when referencing her love life. “Pretty much my dating record so far.”

Legally, the past is now in the rearview mirror for Brown, but judging by his ex’s statement, it may still be a while before he’s forgiven by the one he hurt the most.
