Joseph Gordon-Levitt Will Be ‘Dancing His Cares Away’ In The New ‘Fraggle Rock’ Movie

The actor has signed on to produce and star in the live-action version of 1980s musical puppet show 'Fraggle Rock.'

Get ready to “dance your cares away,” because the highly-anticipated “Fraggle Rock” movie is finally moving forward with everyone’s dream boyfriend, Joseph Gordon-Levitt!

The 34-year-old actor has signed on to produce and star in a live-action version of the 1980s musical puppet series created by Jim Henson.

For all the young’ins who may not remember or be familiar, “Fraggle Rock” followed a zany cast of puppets called Fraggles who lived in a cave alongside furry giants called Gorgs and pudgy green construction workers called Doozers. The series debuted in 1983 and aired on HBO until 1987.

Gordon-Levitt released a statement about the announcement, saying, “The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on ‘Sesame Street’ and then on ‘Fraggle Rock.’ Jim Henson’s characters make you laugh and sing, but they’re also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I’ve never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood.”

A “frisky young man?” Oh, Joe. We love you.

He continued, “Collaborating with [Jim’s daughter] Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved. I’m grateful and excited to be working with New Regency on this project.”

This isn’t JGL’s first run-in with Henson’s muppet universe — he guest-starred on “Sesame Street” in 2013 and appeared in “Lady Gaga & The Muppets’ Holiday Spectacular” later that year. Based on those performances, we’d definitely say he has the perfect mix of charm, childlike bemusement, and musical talent to nail this role.

According to Variety, the “Fraggle Rock” film has been in the works for almost a decade, so hopefully Gordon-Levitt’s involvement will be the boost it needs to finally get moving!

Until then, here’s the insanely catchy “Fraggle Rock” theme song to get you pumped up.
