11 Things We HAVE To Know After Seeing 'Insurgent'

We found out what was in the box, but what next?

Warning: Spoilers ahead!

Die-hard fans of Veronica Roth's "Divergent" series may be pretty tired today, having stayed out late to catch the very first showings of "The Divergent Series: Insurgent." The sequel to last year's "Divergent," starring Shailene Woodley (Tris) and Theo James (Four), hit theaters, finding our heroes on the run after the simulation attack on Abnegation.

The second installment in the series is action-packed, revolving around a mysterious box in the possession of Jeanine (Kate Winslet), a box that can only be opened by a strong Divergent who can pass tests put in place by each of the five factions.

Now the box has been opened and the credits have rolled, but we still have so many questions, and "The Divergent Series: Allegiant - Part 1" doesn't come out until March 18, 2016. AHHHHH! And before you can respond to our heartfelt queries with a resounding "read the book!" we have read the book. Think of how much was changed in "Insurgent." There's no way to know what's going to happen in "Allegiant"! All bets are off.

Here's what we're dying to know after seeing "Insurgent."

  1. What's outside the wall?
    Lionsgate

Here's the biggie: what's outside the wall? "We wait for you, with hope, beyond the wall." So there's hope, but what else?

  2. Who are the founders and what are their intentions?
    Lionsgate

Wait, who is it who has the power to enclose people in the city and divide them up into factions? And what are they up to now, centuries later?

  3. What happened to the world?
    Lionsgate

It's been 200 years since the wall went up and the Divergent experiment began, according to the nameless lady in the box. They say that some bad stuff went down, but what, exactly? What kind of people are out there? Could it possibly be any worse than what's going on inside the walls?

  4. Where's Marcus?
    Lionsgate

Let's just say it: Marcus has had a tough go of it. He abused Four's mom, Evelyn, before the films started, but everything we've seen of his current life has been him getting beat up in Four's dreams in "Divergent," and now Marcus getting whapped with the butt of a gun in "Insurgent." He asked for amnesty -- did he get it (once he regained consciousness)?

  5. Is Tris being Divergent important anymore?
    Lionsgate

Tris' Divergence has always been the driving force of the series' plot -- until now. In "Divergent," she had to run for her life to avoid being found out for what she was. In "Insurgent," only she has the combination of personal qualities necessary to open Jeanine's box. Now that the faction system is broken and the box is open, is Tris just another girl?

  6. Did Tris ever get her Erudite tracker out?

Or did she just keep it as decoration? You have to admit, it was pretty cool looking.

  7. Can we trust Evelyn?
    Lionsgate

She wanted an alliance between the Factionless and Tris and Four's Dauntless, but could she grasp for power in the wider world beyond the wall?

  8. Can we trust Peter?
    Lionsgate

He's on Team Tris, whether he likes it or not, but that doesn't mean Peter can't get crafty. Should Tris and Four ditch him, or is he useful enough to keep around?

  9. What will Caleb do now?
    Lionsgate

"Egg on his face" is not a strong enough term for the position Brother Dearest is in now, having been proven extremely wrong about his trust in Jeanine. Not to mention, he proved that he was willing to sacrifice his little sister for his beliefs. Um, buddy? Bad look.

  10. Will anyone choose to stay inside the wall?
    Lionsgate

We saw everyone streaming toward the wall at the end of "Insurgent," but will anyone decide, nah, I'm good here? What will become of them? Will they still have electricity? Not totally sure about that electricity situation as it stands anyway.

  11. Who's in charge here?
    Lionsgate

Too many cooks in the kitchen: Evelyn, Joanna, Jack Kang and Marcus, wherever the heck Marcus is, were all leaders in their respective communities (RIP Jeanine and Eric). Who's going to lead the masses heading out beyond the wall? Or maybe it'll come down to Tris and Four to take the lead. Either way, looks like chaos.

"The Divergent Series: Insurgent" is in theaters now.
