Ever since Ryan Gosling wrote about Rachel McAdams in a notebook (that's the plot of "The Notebook," right?), America has been captivated with this 6'0", impossibly abdominally gifted blond actor. However, only one woman -- well, two, if you count his daughter -- has been able to steal his heart, and lucky for us Eva Mendes just told "Extra" her big secret when it comes to wooing the Gosling.

"You can't do sweatpants," Mendes said. "Ladies, number one cause of divorce in America, sweatpants, no!"

Um, what? That seems entirely unfair. If never wearing glorious, comfortable sweatpants again is the secret to landing (and keeping) a guy like Gosling, we'll pass, thanks.

But hey, at least we finally know why Gosling and McAdams never quite worked out.

UPDATE: Ryan Gosling has responded to allegations that he hates sweatpants, and says it's all hogwash. Nothing you read on the Internet is real.
