After years of being one of the most photographed stars on the planet, Taylor Swift recently decided she was bored with her usual “step out looking like a fresh-off-the-runway model and dazzle everyone with my poise and grace” routine. So she decided to shake things up a bit and employ a hilarious new tactic to completely stump the paps.

As the 25-year-old was leaving a friend’s house in Los Angeles earlier this week, a swarm of photographers naturally waited outside for her to emerge. But Tay was having none of it. With the help of her bodyguard, a.k.a. her partner-in-crime, she slowly walked backward (in heeled wedge boots, no less!) before quickly spinning around and jumping into an awaiting SUV.

The frazzled photographers can still be heard snapping away, but were left with only pics of Tay’s backside, which are all but useless. Take that, paps!

While it’s a genius maneuver on Taylor’s part, we’re not sure if it’s a viable long-term solution — after all, it could one day end in a nasty face plant. But she now joins the ranks of clever stars who have whipped up some genius maneuvers to protect their privacy, including these three notable examples.

1. Sia, of course, holds the title of today’s most guarded celeb, constantly hiding her face with masks and oversized wigs.

2. Clever couple Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield reminded everyone there are much more important things in the world than taking pictures of celebrities.

3. And in one of the most hilarious examples, Daniel Radcliffe pulled off an epic stunt. He wore the same outfit for five whole months so the paps would get annoyed and stop taking his picture — and it worked!
