Will Zayn Malik Be Pursuing Solo Career As A Rapper?

The One Direction member's collab with Naughty Boy makes us excited at the possibilities.

Say it ain't so!

Is Zayn Malik ready to embark on a solo career? And as a ... rapper? All indications are pointing toward "maybe." In an exclusive interview with The Sun, producer Naughty Boy (aka Shahid Khan) confirmed that he has collaborated with Zayn on a track for his sophomore album.

Just last year, Naughty Boy praised Zayn for his rap skills, telling the UK newspaper, The Independent, that he was "really impressed by him an his writing ability."

If Zayn were looking for a good way to jumpstart his solo career, Naughty Boy would be a great start. Many of us were first introduced to multi-Grammy winner Sam Smith on Naughty Boy's inescapable summer jam, "La La La."

And Simon Cowell, who first discovered and signed the band in 2010 says that he approves of One Direction members pursuing solo projects, eventually. "I hear speculation all the time that they're going solo. My advice is they should stay together but still do things they want as a little bit on the side," Simon told The Mirror.

We'll probably have to wait a little longer for a full-fledged Zayn solo album, but in the meantime, we'll settle with these bits and pieces. A Naughty Boy and Zayn collab can only signal success.
