Glamour and glitter? Check. Fashion and fame? Check. True outrageousness? TBD.

The first official photo from "Jem and the Holograms" has been released, and it features Jem, Kimber, and Aja totally rocking out onstage. There's a keytar, tons of glitter, and we're happy to report Jem's iconic fringed sash has made the cut. (As for her pink dress, well, we're not so sure.) And diehard fans can even breathe a sigh of relief because Jem's hair, though tamed, is still pink.

Based on the cult Hasbro animated series from the 80s, the rebooted "Jem and the Holograms" will follow orphan/YouTube sensation Jerrica Benton (played by newcomer Aubrey Peeples) and her rockstar alter ego Jem, the truly outrageous lead singer of band Jem and the Holograms.

However, in this version of events, the Holograms -- Kimber (Stefanie Scott), Aja (our spirit animal Hayley Kiyoko), and Shana (Aurora Perrineau) -- are actually her sisters, and the entire plot revolves around a "music-driven scavenger hunt"... one that sends Jem and the Holograms on an adventure across Los Angeles in an attempt to "unlock a final message left by her father." That sounds truly outrageous alright.

We're sure it will all come together somehow. That's what synergy is all about!
