Judd Apatow Teaming With Netflix For New Pee-Wee Herman Movie

Bowtie is the new black.

Score another one for Netflix.

The streaming giant confirmed on Tuesday (Feb. 24) that it will team up with producer Judd Apatow to bring the new Pee-wee Herman movie, 'Pee-wee’s Big Holiday,' exclusively to all of its subscribers globally.

“As a fan of Pee-wee Herman since he first appeared on ‘The Dating Game,’ I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with the brilliant Paul Reubens on this film,” Apatow said in a statement. “It is a dream come true.”

John Lee (“Inside Amy Schumer”) will make his feature film directorial debut using the script penned by Paul Rust (“Arrested Development”) and the beloved man-child himself, Reubens.

“Judd and I dreamt up this movie four years ago,” said Reubens. “The world was much different back then—Netflix was waiting by the mailbox for red envelopes to arrive. I’ve changed all that. The future is here. Get used to it. Bowtie is the new black.”

How’s that for cross marketing?

Production for the movie, an epic story of friendship and destiny centered around a mysterious stranger inspiring Pee-wee to take his first-ever holiday, begins next month.
