Oops! This Colorado Movie Theater Accidentally Screened 'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Instead Of 'Spongebob'

A theater full of kids almost got an early sex ed class from exactly the wrong place.

Here's a mix-up for the ages: Last Monday (February 16), families expecting a wholesome morning matinee screening of "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" were instead treated to the BDSM romance blockbuster "Fifty Shades of Grey."

Well, the first few minutes of it, at least -- the theater realized its mistake before any of the kiddies were traumatized at the 11:45 a.m. showing.

That was enough to make parents uncomfortable, though. Apparently, a few families hustled to escape the cinema as soon as they realized what was about to play.

The MetroLux 14 theater in the oh-so-appropriately-named town of Loveland, Colorado, shut down the reels and started playing trailers for children's movies once the projectionists figured out what had gone wrong.

And then the kids got their regularly scheduled Monday morning cartoon -- no ropes, whips, or chains included.
