This Dallas Theater Teacher And His Students Killed 'Uptown Funk'

One shot, so take that 'Birdman!'

Some teachers just get it. Take A. Maceo Smith New Tech High School theater teacher Scot Pankey, who not only totally knows what Bruno Mars and Mark Ronson's "Uptown Funk" is, but also happens to have a killer dance routine to go with it.

"I heard the song before Christmas and fell in love with it,” he told the Dallas Morning News. "We are a project-based school — there are only two in the Metroplex — and that means you give the students a project, put them in teams, and they have to come up with solutions. They had three weeks to work on it, then present as a group what they learned."

The Dallas-based teacher decided that the "Funk" video would be the first project of the year for his classes and that he'd do it with them if they agreed. "I told them, 'I am not a dancer, but I’d love to do this and go on this journey with you, and we can all learn from it and have a good time.'"

We think he was being humble, since the single take video is pretty impressive and his moves are on point. With nearly 170,000 views since Saturday, Pankey said the clip is "a great example of how a bunch of technologly students let go of their fears, trusted their teacher and got down to Uptown Funk!!!"
