7 Reasons Why Tatiana Maslany Is Perfect For The 'Star Wars' Universe

Attack of the clones, indeed.

Another day, another "Star Wars" casting rumor -- but this news could actually break the internet.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, casting is currently underway for Gareth Edwards' "Star Wars" stand-alone film, and "Orphan Black" star Tatiana Maslany is testing for the lead part. [Insert "Attack of the Clones" pun here.] We're not sure what's more exciting: the fact that the film is led by a woman, or that this could be Maslany's big break.

Little has been confirmed about Edwards' stand-alone, but rumor has it the film will follow the group of bounty hunters who were hired to steal the plans for the first Death Star. Other than that, the only bit of intel we know for certain is its release date: December 16, 2016.

Rooney Mara and recent Oscar nominee Felicity Jones are also due to test for the part, but we think Maslany is a perfect choice to lead her own "Star Wars" flick in a galaxy far, far away. Here are just a few reasons why:

She can kick serious ass.

Tatiana Maslany

If Edwards' film really does play out like "Oceans Eleven" in space, then Maslany's experience at kicking ass is going to come in handy.

She can rock braids on braids on braids.

"Star Wars" loves its space braids, and do you know who looks really good in braids? Cosima.

She can pull off comedy and drama.

Sarah, Orphan Black

The ability to balance drama with a little bit of humor is necessary for the "Star Wars" 'verse, and Maslany pulls that off on a weekly basis as clones Sarah, Alison, Cosima, Helena and Rachel -- sometimes, even in the same scene as different characters. Is your mind blown yet?

She can totally master any accent.

Helena on

The Canadian actress consistently flips between different accents on "Orphan Black," which could come in handy in another galaxy.

She has chemistry with everyone.

Tatiana Maslany

Being on a show like "Orphan Black," Maslany is pretty much in every single scene, which means she's had plenty of scenes with every actor on the show. And she has chemistry with every. single. one. of. them. Obviously, this means she's perfect for an ensemble cast like "Star Wars."

She's got moves.

Alison on

You know, in case she needs to have a dance party with some Ewoks.

She can play multiple characters with ease.

Petition to cast the entire "Star Wars" film with Maslany's clones. We can't think of a more badass group of bounty hunters, can you?
