This 'Space Jam' Art Exhibition Will Make You Believe You Can Fly

Los Angeles artist Devin Strother has brought the film to canvas.

Since pretty much everyone who was a kid in the '90s is obsessed with "Space Jam," it makes perfect sense that Devin Strother, a Los Angeles-based artist, has created a series of art pieces inspired by the classic film.

His exhibition just opened yesterday (January 10) at New York’s Marlborough Chelsea gallery and the pieces bring the 1996 film to life. Strother has said that while he grew up around basketball fans, he wasn’t really a fan himself.

"I've always watched the game from this other point of view,” he told "The Huffington Post". "I wasn't really watching the game I was more watching all the things that go around basketball, more so than the game."

The exhibition material goes beyond the film.

“The work is talking about identity and talking about artists’ practices, but I’m facilitating all of that through basketball and the movie 'Space Jam,'" Strother told the New York Times.

Make sure to head over in the next few weeks if you'd like to see the exhibit‚it will only be showing at the gallery from January 10 through February 14.

You know what else all of this "Space Jam" nostalgia is making us yearn for? R. Kelly's incredible contribution to the film's soundtrack "I Believe I Can Fly."
