There's A Hip-Hop Hall Of Fame Coming To New York In 2017

With spaces in Harlem and Midtown.

Sure, we still think N.W.A deserve a spot in the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame -- which they again didn't get this year -- but now we've got a better solution than fighting for their inclusion in Cleveland, Ohio: The Hip Hop Hall of Fame Museum.

The New York-based shrine is set to open in 2017, according to the New York Daily News, with locations set for both Midtown Manhattan and Harlem.

"This will be the home of hip hop history," JT Thompson, the chairman of the museum and producer of BET’s "Hip Hop Hall of Fame Awards Show" from 1992-97, said. "People need to understand the importance of hip hop, the elements, the DJs, the B-boys and B-girls and the graffiti writers."

With a 12,000-square-foot museum on 125th Street -- as well as a coffee and juice bar, shops and a TV studio -- plus a Times Square-area 50,000 square-foot location -- which will include 90-minute tours and interactive exhibits -- the Hall of Fame will boast a collection donated by artists including Eminem, Outkast, Jeezy, Run-DMC, Salt-N-Pepa, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Common, Grandmaster Flash and Afrika Bambaataam.

In addition, they've launched an IndieGoGo campaign to raise $500,000 to go towards a Youth Media Education Center.
