Mother knows best -- that idiom almost always holds true, even if you’re a couple of know-it-all political pundits like Brad and Dallas Woodhouse.

While the brothers were making an appearance on C-SPAN to discuss “Woodhouse Divided,” their documentary on bipartisanship and the political divide around the U.S. and in individual family politics, their mother, Joy, called in from Raleigh, North Carolina to give her sons a piece of her mind.

“Oh God, it’s Mom,” said Republican pundit Dallas upon hearing her voice, before hanging his head in shame.

“I’m your mother, and I disagree that all families are like ours,” Joy said. “I don’t know many families that are fighting at Thanksgiving. I was very glad that this Thanksgiving was a year you were supposed to go to your in-laws. And I’m hoping you’ll have some of this out of your system when you come here for Christmas. I would really like a peaceful Christmas.”

So, what’s it like to have a Democratic son (Brad) and a Republican son (Dallas) who argue incessantly over their opposing political views?

“Well, it hadn’t been easy,” she said. No kidding.
