Chris Hemsworth Stabbed Himself Because He Thought He Was A Fish

The sexiest man alive tried to catch himself for dinner.

Chris Hemsworth is the God of Thunder and the Sexiest Man Alive, but let us never forget that once upon a time, he was also a wee tot with a big knife in the wild Australian outback. And in January's GQ, for which Hemsworth is the cover model, he shared this charming story about the time he tried to catch his own hand for dinner.

After purchasing a giant knife from a local store, Hemsworth said, "I went snorkeling in this swimming hole. Thought I stabbed a fish, but I stabbed myself in the hand instead. I still have a vivid memory of what that felt like. It wasn't alarmingly bad, but it was like, 'Oh, wow. I've just done something here.'"

Clearly, Chris Hemsworth was never destined for a robust career as a fisherman, or even as an identifier of things underwater that are/are not fish, which he is obviously not very good at. Instead, he says he enjoyed a wild'n'crazy youth as a fast-rising Aussie star, appearing on beloved soap opera "Home and Away," before rebooting as a quieter, more focused fellow in American films.

"The fame, the parties, the women—I did that stuff back home, when I was on the show. I got away with a lot more over there. Then I came [to the U.S.] and sort of started over," he explained.

Hemsworth has since settled down, marrying and having a gaggle of kids with fellow actor Elsa Pataky. Now, he confesses to the magazine that he's having to keep his mouth shut while little brother Liam makes all the same mistakes he did.

"I've watched Liam do things I did at his age, like being in relationships he shouldn't be in, or being reckless just to prove a point. And I had no empathy. My mom had to remind me I was the same way," he said.

Unfortunately for the gossip hounds of the world, Hemsworth doesn't elaborate on what he means by "relationships he shouldn't be in" (although we can probably guess which one he's referring to.) But what his GQ interview lacks in shameless dirt-dishing, it more than makes up for in vivid descriptions of the actor getting all hot and sweaty on a mountain-biking expedition, so it's definitely worth a read.
