The notice translates to, "We will be refusing entry to all couples on December 24, with no exceptions!" The message also suggests all those gift swaps and googley eyes "would cause severe emotional trauma to members of our staff."

PiaPia employee Takashi Kyozuka told The Telegraph, "To start with, someone said we should ban couples as a bit of a joke, but then we realised that it's true... if you are single on Christmas Eve, then it's easy to get down."

This, on the heels of the restaurant that pairs solo diners with stuffed animals, solidifies Tokyo as the most singles-friendly city, followed closely by Amsterdam thanks to their unveiling of the world's first one-person restaurant. Your move, America.
