As you know by now, 2014 will forever be known as The Year of Pharrell's Hat—but it was also a huge year for another piece of headwear: the clergyman's hat, a style first made iconic by the Quaker man. Yes, really.

Maybe Skateboard P gave his peers the courage to take this ~style risk~, but suddenly everyone—or at least it seems like everyone—is wearing the wide-brimmed, high-sitting chapeau. The decades-old topper certainly had a handful of moments this year, but here are six of the best.

DRAKE

Just today Drake showed his support for the hat, which apparently has the superpower to make any basic cheese feel exotic. If that's not enough to make you try one on, clearly you have no taste. That or you're lactose intolerant.

THEOPHILUS LONDON

Consider Theophilus London to be the OG of clergyman hats. The fashion diehard has been championing them since he emerged in 2011.

HARRY STYLES

Usually it's the ladies who steal the spotlight on the red carpet, but Harry Styles was an exception when he arrived at the American Music Awards in a black wide-brimmed hat. It was instant meme gold.

JUSTIN BIEBER

Justin Bieber, aka "I Am Fashion," has, of course, also gotten in on this trend. In October, he turned up at a Knicks game in a black flat-top hat, which paired well with nachos.

MADONNA

But no one has fully committed to the trend like Madonna, who went head-to-toe with the theme at the Grammys in an androgynous black suit and tie with a cross pin. Oh, and there was also a cane.

LORDE

Lorde, on the other hand, went with a futuristic interpretation of the hat at the MuchMusic Awards where she paired her Philip Treacy accessory with two suits. Everyone else take note, it's going to be hard to top this one.
