December 3, 2009 is a day that will live in infamy: Thanks to MTV, the world was introduced to a truly unique group of guidos and guidettes -- specifically, Snooki, JWOWW, Mike "The Situation," Sammi Sweetheart, Ronnie, Pauly D and Vinny. We were privileged to witness their unbelievable antics unfold during their summer at the "Jersey Shore" -- from the guys' gym, tan, laundry regimen (GTL, natch) to the gang working at the T-shirt shop and their trips to Karma, we basically saw it all.

In honor of the momentous occasion, some of the crew took to Twitter to reflect on the special anniversary.

Meanwhile, Rhode Island's most well-known DJ shared this epic Instagram throwback collage with the caption, "5 Years Ago Today The First Episode Of #JerseyShore Aired On @MTV !!! What A Crazy Ride It's Been !! 12/03/2009" Indeed, it's surely been an unforgettable journey.

It's tough to believe five years have passed, but to properly pay tribute to the iconic series, we're looking back at some of its most memorable moments from Season 1 -- when it all began. So put down your duck phone, grab some pickles, pour a glass of Ron Ron juice and enjoy:

Snooki gets punched

Even though we didn't see the actual physical altercation, the mid-fight audio and the sad image of our girl sobbing shortly afterward is more than enough to warrant a mention.

Ronnie and Sammi have it out

Ron learned one very important lesson about his girl: Mentioning the brunette beauty's "Fred Flintstone" big toe = a HUGE no-no. This fiery argument signaled the beginning of many "Ron, STAHP!" mentions to come.

JWOWW clashes with The Situation

During a weekend trip to Atlantic City, Jenni couldn't hold in her frustrations with Mike any longer -- and she clocked him right in the face.

Goodbye...for now

After many laughs, tears and trips to the tanning salon, the crew said farewell to one unforgettable summer. Up next, MIAMI!
