The Guy Who Started 'Meow The Jewels' Got To Meet Run The Jewels Themselves—Watch

Meow, meow, meow!

Run The Jewels has always been happy to meet their fans, but they were excited more than usual to meet Sly Jones, the man behind the Meow The Jewels Kickstarter campaign.

Killer Mike and El-P met Sly while they were on tour in Phoenix and had a chance to thank him in person.

“This is who you have to thank for Meow The Jewels right here,” Mike said in a video shot by Phoenix New Times.

The project, which is literally a re-creation of Run The Jewels 2, overshot its initial goal of $45,100 by over $20,000.

“The money’s going somewhere good,” Mike added. “We’re gonna try to get it directly to the families of Garner and Brown. If not, to anything to fight police brutality and I think that a stoned idea from an artist is met with a revolutionary supporter who said ‘F--k it, we makin’ it happen for the greater good.’ So it’s Twitter, hip-hop and cool people.”

Cool people, indeed.

After the trio smoked some weed and chopped it up, they all went to the Crescent Ballroom for the RTJ show, where the critically-acclaimed duo brought Sly onstage to thank him in front of their die-hard fans.
