The world's hearts collectively broke today when a video surfaced online of a new father who had just lost his wife, singing the Beatles' "Blackbird" to his dying newborn son.

Musician Chis Picco's wife, Ashley, unexpectedly passed away in her sleep on Saturday, and Lennon James was delivered through emergency c-section at just 24 weeks old, weighing just over two pounds, according to Chris' Facebook.

Because during pregnancy Ashley would often feel Lennon move to music, Chris brought his guitar to the NICU to perform the tender song.

The lack of movement and brain activity concerned doctors, and tragically, one day after the video was taken, the tiny baby died in his father's arms.

Chris shared a statement on his Facebook page:

The outpouring of love and compassion has been vast, and people all over have shown their support by donating to their memorial fund, which has raised over $82K.

A memorial service for Ashley and Lennon will be held at Loma Linda University Church Seventh-day Adventists on Saturday, November 15.
