This weekend's "Big Hero 6" is unique in so many ways. Not only is it the first Disney movie to feature a mixed race protagonist and a team with a nearly equal gender ratio among its human members ("woman up!"), it's also the first Disney animated movie to come from a Marvel inspiration.

Based on the Marvel comic mini-series of the same name, "Big Hero 6" is definitely cute and animated, but has recognizable comic book elements, such as, uh, superheroes.

MTV News caught up with the cast of the film at New York Comic Con ahead of the release of the movie to ask what they thought of the marriage of the Mouse House and the comic legends.

"This film is a love letter to the original comic," said Ryan Potter, who voices Hiro. "What they've created is a perfect blend of both the Disney world and the Marvel world."

Genesis Rodriguez, for her part, said that the movie "still has that Disney kind of comedy and sentiment and silliness and warmth," while providing edge-of-seat action sequences, "so I think it's just going to appeal to everybody."

"Big Hero 6" is in theaters today.
