MTV’s Homecoming Bracket Heats Up: Demi Lovato, 5SOS, Dylan O’Brien Advance To Round 2!

In shocking eliminations, Taylor Swift, Katy Perry are out. 1D and Tyler Posey are in.

Things are heating up in MTV's Homecoming King and Queen Bracket!

You guys have been voting non-stop, but unfortunately we had to say goodbye to some of our favorite stars in the first round. And I have to admit, there were some shocking eliminations.

Let's start with the women. Two of the biggest ladies in pop were taken down by two of the biggest ladies in Hollywood. Taylor Swift and Katy Perry both lost out to Shailene Woodley and Emma Watson, who will now face off against each other in the second round, in what will no doubt be a highly contested matchup.

Head to the bracket to vote and share:

In what proved to be the most tense of round-one battles, Jennifer Lawrence inched past Selena Gomez, while Lovatics managed to rally behind their girl, Demi Lovato, to pull past the Navy and send Rihanna packing. Demi will now face off against J.Law.

Rounding out the girls will be Lady Gaga (who took down Laverne Cox) versus Ariana Grande, who got rid of her, um, "problem," Iggy Azaela.

As for the guys, we had some pretty tough battles with 5SOS taking down Drake; Ed Sheeran just getting past Nick Jonas; and Dylan O'Brien getting the edge on Josh Hutcherson, which leaves O'Brien primed to take on "Harry Potter" himself, Daniel Radcliffe.

Also moving on were Justin Bieber, whose Belibers will go up against the 5SOS Fam; YouTube star Tyler Oakley, who'll take on the Sheerios; and Directioners who are set to go head-to-head with "Teen Wolf" fans as Tyler Posey fights One Direction for a spot.

So who will rule the school? Well, that’s entirely in your hands! The second round of voting begins Thursday (October 16) and ends on Monday, October 20, when 16 contenders will be narrowed down to 8. You can help your fave advance to the second round by voting as many times as you wish -- and by spreading the message on Twitter, Instagram, Vine and Tumblr using the hashtag #MTVHomecoming.
