Feast Your Eyes On This Incredible 'Star Wars'-Inspired Sidewalk Art

Jedi-level chalking skills.

A secret landspeeder parking garage, a "Starry Night" on the Dark Side, a hysterical C3PO screaming forever in expressionist hell: all these works of art and more were on display last weekend at the annual Lucasfilm Sidewalk Festival, where talented tenants at the Letterman Digital Arts Center in San Diego paid homage to their favorite George Lucas creations.

The artists worked in teams of no more than four, with prizes awarded in multiple categories for the best chalkworks. The majority of the art seemed to be "Star Wars"-inspired, although Indiana Jones and various Disney characters made their appearances, too -- not to mention mashup infiltrations by "Futurama" characters and "Calvin & Hobbes." The first place winner was a depiction of our favorite tiny troublemaker and his tiger friend on a field trip to the ice planet Hoth.

My personal favorite, though, has gotta be this ridiculous Escher-inspired morph from Vader to Yoda. Wowie.

See all the pretty pretty pictures of the amazing chalk art here. Try not to weep when you realize that scattered showers and morning dewdrops have probably already washed these masterpieces away.
