When "The Vampire Diaries" returns next month, the land of the living will be down one Salvatore brother -- but will Elena (Nina Dobrev) go as far as to search for solace with Stefan (Paul Wesley), whose heart she has already broken, as she grieves?

The trailers for the new season suggest a resounding "no," but this brand new season six poster should give Stelena fans some hope that Elena might reunite with her first love as she mourns Damon's (Ian Somerhalder) untimely death:

Say whaaaat? Now, Stefan could certainly just be taking Elena's hand to guide her in a certain direction -- like, say, away from Mystic Falls, which officially became magic-free at the end of last year -- but it definitely suggests that the fractured pair will become closer in one way or another, as they figure out how to move on from the events of last year. (And confront this year's chaos, of course.)

Also notable is the welcome additions of Enzo and Alaric to the cast roster, as well as the newfound closeness between Bonnie and Damon, but why oh why is our fierce, fabulous Caroline posing all helpless on the floor? Get yourself up, girl.
