New 'Avengers: Age Of Ultron' Synopsis Teases Joss Whedon's Vision

Tony Stark made a big mistake.

In a few more months, the "Age of Ultron" will be upon us.

The next "Avengers" film arrives just in time to kick off the summer movie season of 2015, and while we have a little while to wait, Marvel's already whetting our appetite with an official synopsis containing some important story details — including a very interesting tease about one of Earth's newest mighty heroes, Vision.

Check it out:

"Marvel Studios presents 'Avengers: Age of Ultron,' the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.

"Marvel's 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision."

There's some interesting stuff to chew on there. For one, Tony Stark's responsibility in creating Ultron appears to be on full display. But what's this "dormant peacekeeping program" we're hearing about here? Is this why Iron Man built all of those various different suits that came to party in "Iron Man 3," or does it go back even further? Does it have anything to do with "Iron Man 2" villain Justin Hammer's plans to use Stark-inspired technology as a global task force? Will Stark endanger the world by leaning on methods of an adversary from the past? If that means a surprise cameo from Sam Rockwell in "Age of Ultron," then sign me up.

The other big one is what's revealed about Vision. According to the synopsis, he's "an old friend in a new form," which seemingly confirms that Vision is very much derived from J.A.R.V.I.S., given new life and physical form — probably by Ultron, as a scare tactic against Stark. Not that the Vision-J.A.R.V.I.S. link wasn't already clear, what with Bettany's involvement in both characters. Still, interesting to see Marvel putting that information right there in the film's official synopsis.

Stay tuned for more "Avengers" news as it comes in.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" arrives on May 1, 2015.
