Old-School Simpsons To Cross Over With Modern Simpsons In Treehouse Of Horror

SpoooOOOoooOOOOooky.

This year, the annual "Simpsons" Halloween episode will feature a very spooky special cameo: The Simpson family.

If that doesn't sound ominous to you, a little history lesson: Before Matt Groening and Fox began their joyful union, the Simpson family was a crudely-drawn doodle bearing some resemblance to today's everyfamily, appearing in shorts on "The Tracey Ullman Show" from 1987 to 1989 before spinning off into their own show.

In this year's Treehouse of Horror ep, the old-school Simpsons will be haunting the treehouse of the current era Simpsons, making way for a great crossover.

Executive producer Al Jean told Entertainment Weekly that the crossover between the retro Simpsons and modern-day Simpsons will be very involved. Not only will the difference be visual, but also audible. The current voice cast of "The Simpsons" provided the voices for the characters on "The Tracey Ullman Show" as well, though the intonations were different.

“We’ve implied that they were murdered and buried under the house, so this is expanding that thought,” says Jean, adding: “If people want a real Halloween bloodbath, they get it.”

The Halloween episode airs October 19.
