Did Kendrick Lamar Steal The Music For 'Rigamortis'?

Musician sue for the song's rights and profits.

Good kid, litigation city.

TMZ reports that Kendrick Lamar is being sued by two musicians, Eric Reed and Willie Jones III, for allegedly stealing the music from their song, “The Thorn,” to use for his standout track “Rigamortis.”

Reed and Jones composed their song in 2010 and claim that the composition was sampled for background music to K.Dot’s 2011 hit from his Section.80 LP.

The plaintiffs claim that the Compton rapper took their music and simply added lyrics to it without crediting them.

Subsequently, Reed and Jones feel that “Rigamortis” is their song and are seeking all of the song’s rights and profits, as well as at least $1 million in the suit.

While a quick listen does reveal some sonic similarities between the two songs, we're not legal experts.

What do you think? Do they have a case?
