The Australia native recently gave an interview to the Sydney Courier Mail and revealed that the duo will release an original album in November.
"It is a smack bang duets [album],” Simpson said. “Justin has been a good mate of mine for a while. It's just us writing. He told me he felt like I’d figured myself out and have grown into what he knows I will be, so he was like, ‘I see you as that guitarist/singer/songwriter you’ve always wanted to be.’ I play all the guitars on the album.”
Back in August, Cody posted a short snippet of one of the songs that may be featured on the album, and it sounded like a guitar-driven love song.
Cody and Justin, who share a manager in Scooter Braun, teamed up a few months back in the studio and instantly hit it off. In a separate interview with Canadian publication the Tribute, Simpson elaborated on how the pair met up.
"[Justin] gave me a call a couple months back and I guess he’d seen some little clips I posted on Instagram of me playing guitar and jamming and soloing, and he was like, 'Man, you’re getting really good. I’d love you to come and write,' " Cody told the Tribute. "We went in and ended up being in the studio til 6 in the morning, came out with a song, went in the next night and then ended up writing, like, 12 songs in seven days, working all night. So it was a great experience.
"We’re both very different people and we’re both inspired in very different ways but I was able to come in and play some guitars and we were able to write some beautiful songs together -- pretty acoustic-sounding -- so you’ll hear some music this year."
Fans of both Justin and Cody should be on the lookout for more deets this month since Justin tweeted on Labor Day that "big news" is coming.
