Kiernan Shipka, Allison Williams, And More Are Best Dressed At 2014 Emmys
It's not often we get two killer red carpets twice in one week, let alone TWO NIGHTS IN A ROW, but that's what's happening right this very minute. (Best week ever? Best week ever.) On the heels of the 2014 Video Music Awards, which we're all frankly still recovering from both in terms of the sheer slayage and also lack of sleep, came the Emmys.
There was very little overlap, neither in attendees nor fabric yardage. Only two crop tops tonight (on the Modern Family girls, those minxes). Twenty-four hours ago, most girls completely swore off bottoms. Take a scroll through the best dressed to see what I mean.
KIERNAN SHIPKA IN ANTONIO BERARDI
At this point, it's redundant to say that Kiernan is so stylish at such a young age, because girl's been killing it since she was 12. And that's not hyperbolic, that's just the straight-up truth. But yeah, tonight's incredible gray gown with a sequin waist is unlike anything I've ever laid eyes on. Also: THOSE SHOES.
SARAH HYLAND IN CHRISTIAN SIRIANO
There were very few crop tops at the Emmys. Like, suuuuure, there could have been some on the seat fillers in the rafters, but as far as red carpet appearances go, Sarah (and her small screen little sis!) were it. Good thing, because no one would have come close to this custom Christian Siriano look.
LIZZY CAPLAN IN DONNA KARAN ATELIER
Sooooo not only is Lizzy the coolest girl on TV, but she's also the best dressed. No one can compete with that. We can all give up.
ALLISON WILLIAMS IN GIAMBATTISTA VALLI
We can all agree that Allison went full-on Marnie tonight, while Lena went total Hannah, right? Right.
GWEN STEFANI IN ATELIER VERSACE
Not only does Gwen appear to be aging backwards—in general but generally since last night—but her style is also getting increasingly cooler. An impressive feat, considering she's been fashion icon NUMERO UNO since her No Doubt days.
LAURA PREPON IN GUSTAVO CADILE
Ohhhhhh, girl, you work that ruffly confection of a dress. (Yeah, that's a great clutch and, yeah, it deserved to have its own camera spotlight).
LAVERNE COX IN MARC BOUWER
Can she do no wrong? (She cannot do wrong.) That neckline. That cape train. Ugh. Perfect.
MICHELLE DOCKERY IN ROSIE ASSOULIN
This little number is totally lovely and ladylike and all that, but the little peekaboo midriff cutout makes you remember that, man, Michelle Dockery and her stylist, Micaela Erlanger, sure know what they're doing.
ARIEL WINTER IN BLACK HALO
As one of the youngest stars on the red carpet, Ariel manages to look youthful AND cool AND stylish AND all the ways you want to look when you're 16 and at the Emmys.
KRISTEN WIIG IN VERA WANG
Kristin's slinky satin gown is really cool, right? Way cooler is the lizard on the back of her strap. (Whether it was intentional or not is completely irrelevant. Best accessory of the night, hands down.)
