Guys Who Do More Housework Have Better Sex Lives, Study Says

If you want to get dirty, fellas, better get cleaning.

What do you do when your dishwasher stops working? Pat her on the ass, tell her she looks pretty -- and then never have sex again, because it's not the 1950s anymore, you lazy idiot.

According to new research from Cornell University, straight couples report "more frequent sex and greater satisfaction with the frequency and quality of that sex" if the man is responsible for 50% of household chores. That's based on survey data from 4,500 marriages across the U.S. published by the Council on Contemporary Families. Basically, dish soap makes a great lubricant.

This actually contradicts the results of a previous study, which found that only "masculine chores, like taking out the trash or fixing the car" lead to more sex, as the New York Times reported. The latest research focused on younger couples with different attitudes.

But dudes shouldn't do everything around the house and then expect sex 24/7 (when they're not busy dusting), because the Cornell researchers also found that "completely reversing gender roles in housework was not a sexual turn-on to either the men or women involved." That only happened in 5% of the surveyed relationships. Some guys just love doing laundry.

Still, professor Sharon Sassler concluded, "Perhaps if more men realized that sexual frequency was higher when the domestic load was more equitably shared they would grab that Swiffer more often."
