If a passing glance at any of the promotional materials for Marvel’s upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy" has elicited questions in your mind such as “So now there’s a gun-toting raccoon?”[1] or “Is that wooden guy like a superhero Treebeard or something?,”[2] we can sympathize with your confusion. After years of releasing movies with heroes and villains that were at least recognizable from the cartoon shows, lunchboxes and bedsheet patterns from our youth, Marvel has suddenly submitted for our consideration a bizarre sci-fi opera starring the guy from "Parks and Recreation" and a bunch of strange otherworldly space-heroes, with nary a recognizable face or costume to be seen.

To help bring you up to speed on who those so-called Guardians are, what they do, and who they associate with (i.e. battle with awesome futuristic weapons), we’ve created an infographic cheat sheet of sorts to help you learn more about the key players in the movie. We even rated the levels of their powers so you can see just how the Guardians themselves match up with the abilities of their adversaries.
