For the big closer of the Marvel panel at San Diego Comic-Con, James Gunn and Chris Pratt sent in a video from London to announce the release date for "Guardians of the Galaxy 2."

The sequel to the sci-fi epic, hitting theaters soon, will debut on July 28, 2017.

Gunn was recently rumored to return as writer and director, and he confirmed the news on Twitter:

"Guardians of the Galaxy" hits theaters on August 1.
