Angelina Jolie And Brad Pitt's 'By The Sea' Is A Go

Jolie set to write, direct and star in the film alongside Pitt.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s “experimental, independent type film” is officially a go.

Universal announced Friday (July 18) that it has acquired the rights to “By the Sea,” the Hollywood power-couple’s first on-screen collaboration since 2005’s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.”

Jolie will write, direct and star in the “intimate, character-driven drama” alongside Pitt.

The studio did not release the film’s plot details, but Jolie revealed that it will be nothing like the action-packed thriller that birthed “Brangelina.”

“It’s not a big movie, not an action movie,” Jolie told Extra two months ago. “It’s the kind of movie we both love but aren’t often cast in. It’s a very experimental, independent type film where we get to just be actors together and be really raw and open and try things.”

“By the Sea” will be a hat-trick for Jolie, as this will be her third film behind the camera.
