Lorde Seems Shocked At Her VMA Nominations

The 'Royals' singer responds to her noms before the big show on August 24 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Of course Lorde would respond to her nominations for the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards with a metaphor. Because she's Lorde, and she wouldn't do it any less poetically.

"wowzer ... vma nominations!" she tweeted on Friday morning (July 18). "OMG i am the black sheep of both my categories hahahaha."

If you're wondering why she's labeling herself as a dark-hued ewe, that's because the singer is nominated for Best Rock Video -- not something a pop artist is usually up for. Lorde is also has nominated for Best Female Video, going up against Ariana Grande, Beyoncé, Iggy Azalea and Katy Perry.
